My babypulse does not turn on
If you feel this is the problem perform the following checks.
- Change the battery if it is not new (always use an Alkaline battery such as Duracell MN1604)
- When you press the On/Off button on the front of the babypulse doppler does the battery low light flash on and then off ?
If this is the case then the unit is turning on and the problem is elsewhere.
Try
- Increasing the volume control on the side of the unit.
- Stroke the front of the transducer
Do you now have an audio signal ?
If you don't then contact our technical department . Click here for details
My babypulse does not turn off
If you feel this is the problem perform the following checks.
- When you press the On/Off button on the front of the babypulse doppler the unit should turn off ?
If this is not the case then unfortunately either the on/off switch or the on/off circuit has failed.

My babypulse keeps turning off
The babypulse doppler has an automatic turn off feature to save battery life when accidentally left on and to limit the time the unit is used for one continuous period.
It is designed to turn off after 4 to 5 minutes of use.
If your babypulse turns off sooner then:
- Change the battery if it is not new (always use an Alkaline battery such as Duracell MN1604)
If it is still a problem then contact our technical department . Click here for details
My babypulse does not detect my baby
There are a number of reasons why you may be having difficulty detecting your baby.
- If you are less than 12 weeks from your last menstrual period then detection can be difficult. Your baby is very small and you may not be making contact with the uterus. If you are less than 12 weeks read how early can I hear my baby.
- When the unit is turned on, the volume set to maximum move your fingers towards and away from the face of the transducer in a range 2 to 10 mm without touching the face. You should hear your fingers produce a doppler shift in the signal in the loudspeaker. If this is the case then the unit is operating correctly and there is another problem.
- Apply plenty of gel when you contact the skin with the transducer, the gel is used to exclude air when coupling with the body as ultrasound does not travel well through air. Rather than move the transducer over the abdomen try tilting it as this will reduce contact noise and provide a better coupling with the skin.
- In many cases the fetus is much lower in the abdomen than you may think so locate the wall of the uterus (how early can I hear my baby. ) and place the transducer between this position and the pelvic bone, angle the transducer downwards towards the pelvic bone.
Do not worry, there may be the odd day during your early pregnancy when detection may be difficult and especially when you are inexperienced with your babypulse. If you have concerns over your pregnany then always contact your healthcare provider.

My babypulse is very noisy
Doppler units do have a characteristic background noise which can appear worse in use under some conditions
- If you are hearing a popping noise then is is generally due to air in the coupling gel. By moving the transducer over the abdomen the coupling gel can pick up air bubbles and these reflect the ultrasound signal. Try fresh gel and angling the transducer to detect your baby rather that drawing it over your abdomen. Never put used gel back into the bottle.
- Loud clicking when the transducer is moved or angled is characteristic of overload or a damaged crystal.
- Background noise increases dramatically when you contact your body is characteristic of a problem with the transducer

My babypulse turns on but there is no sound
Try the following:
- Check the volume control is not at minimum
- Stroke the transducer face: does this provide a sound ?
- Do you have a headset or a tape recorder connected to the headphone socket , as this will mute the audio from the loudspeaker.
